How were the white cliffs of dover formed?

The White Cliffs of Dover were formed over 70 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. They are made primarily of chalK; a soft, white limestone composed of the microscopic remains of marine algae that settled on the seabed. Over millions of years, layers of this sediment built up and were eventually compressed into chalk. Tectonic movements and changes in sea levels later exposed these cliffs to erosion, creating the dramatic vertical faces we see today. Their brilliant white colour comes from the purity of the chalk, which contains very little organic material or impurities.

Our driver Liam was the best tour guide / driver we have ever had on trips.
Full of knowledge, Great playlist throughout the trip and very approachable.
Fortunately for us all we had a great bunch of people on board of which everyone was respectful & arrived back at the bus on time which allowed Liam to give give us a little extra time & a small detour.
Couldn’t have asked for more had a great day out. Would highly recommend this company & we can’t wait to book another tour with you when we return to the UK 🇬🇧

Pleasant trip to Dover

We were a bit nervous about booking with Go Tours as we've never interacted with them before, but what a pleasant surprise this experience has been! Our tour guide was professional and had a well-equipped Mercedes mini bus to take us to Dover. We had opportunities along the way to explore Canterbury and Deal, all while receiving interesting history and information about each location we were in. I would recommend taking a tour with Go Tours.

Fabulous small group tour with Len!

Fabulous Day on our small group tour of Canterbury, Deal and the White Cliffs of Dover! Len was the absolute best guide (& driver) we’ve had while visiting London. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, informative, patient, easy-going and overall fun to be around. We had plenty of time to visit the Cathedral in Canterbury, lunch in Deal and walk around the White Cliffs of Dover (with Len’s guidance and photo skills). We suggest seeking out small group tours with Go Tours and especially with Len!

This is the Dover tour you should go on.

Our guide Len was great as he provided a lot of history and info along the route, was funny and personable, and a good driver! The small group was nice so easy to get off the mini-bus and get moving at each location. Perfect day!

Veldig opplevelsesrik dagstur. Første stopp i vakre Canterbury med den vakre katedralen, sine koselige gater og elv. Lunch stop i den fine lille kystbyen Deal. Siste stopp White cliffs of Denver, wow!
Hele dagen ble vi guided av sjåføren Kevin som gav oss gode tips og som var svært kunnskapsrik! Anbefales på det varmeste!
