Had the luck of having Bill as our tour guide. He was fantastic! Not only was he very knowledgeable but he also had the ability to entertain the group with all kinds of stories and facts relating to the places we were driving through, or stopping at, without ever getting boring. Listening to him whilst enjoying the scenery from the van was both incredibly relaxing and very informative. During the stops he gave us plenty of tips for things to go see and places to go to have a drink or sit for lunch. The time allowed to wander around felt very well-thought-through and appropriate for the type of village we were visiting each time with a perfect balance between the amount of time spent driving and that allowed to visit the villages ( of which I wouldn’t have skipped any! ). A really enjoyable ( and comfortable!) trip around this gorgeous region with an exceptional guide and driver ( congratulations to Bill for his excellent driving style!).
Bill will be so pleased to hear how much you enjoyed both his stories and his driving. I’m glad the balance between time on the road and time in each village felt just right, and that his local tips helped you make the most of every stop. Best, Maya
Andy was a wonderful driver/guide for the day. Just the right amount of time at each stop to see the sights and shop. This is a great day tour... quaint villages, beautiful scenery and of course the impressive Stonehenge which does not disappoint. Highly recommend! G Vann
I’m glad the timing at each stop felt just right and gave you plenty of time to enjoy the villages along the way. It’s great to hear Stonehenge lived up to expectations too, and I’ll make sure to pass on your kind comments to Andy. Best, Maya
We did the 1 day tour of the Cotswolds on 10/21. Essentially the tour operator is just providing transportation, but the driver, who was a retired police officer, did an excellent job of filling in some of the history of the towns and of the area. He had some fun anecdotes and some good recommendations during the day. We stopped at ( I think) 4 towns, the driver would park, and then tell us when he needed us back to the bus. Otherwise, we were on our own. It worked out well being able to choose what you wanted to do while you were in the particular town.
I’m glad the independent style of the tour worked so well for you. Our driver-guides share history, stories and recommendations along the way, then give you the freedom to explore each village at your own pace. Best, Maya
The trip was excellent! Had some of the best lemon cake and ice cream in the Cotswolds. Walking through memory lane in all these places was quite special. Bill was splendid! He kept us informed and quizzed us the whole way through. So glad I took this tour! Next time will be for the full Cotswolds tour to see the eye of the world.
It sounds like you packed plenty into the day, including some very important lemon cake and ice cream stops. I’m glad Bill kept things fun and informative, and hopefully we’ll see you back for the full Cotswolds tour next time. Best, Maya
We went on 5-days small group tour "The Best of Wales tour from London" this September. It was 15 of us and David, our driver/tour guide. All group members enjoyed the trip which covered Wales history, culture, and beautiful nature. David went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy, he paid sincere attention to our accommodations, suggested the best restorant on our stops, had good knowledge about the places we visit, and about British culture and music. Being jazz singer he gave us unique possibility listen to songs he likes and sings. Travel was in a 16-seat minibus with pretty comfortable sits. David's driving was superb on small tiny country roads we traveled. Wales nature, sea shores and small towns were absolutely stunning, peacefull and romantic, castles are amazing and great to climb. Trip schedule, places and stops were very well organized. We would highly recommend this trip for people who want to learn more about history and culture of Great Britain.
It sounds like David really looked after everyone throughout the five days, from navigating those Welsh roads to sharing his knowledge and even a few songs along the way. I’m so glad you enjoyed discovering the history, castles and beautiful Welsh countryside. Thanks for the recommendation. Best, Maya
We really enjoyed our day trip with Rob! He was informative and made the day a fun and interesting experience. The Seven Sisters and Brighton were lovely - just a small suggestion would be to swap them around so that shops etc in Brighton were open in the afternoon! Overall, a great way to see this beautiful area in a comfy small tour bus. Thanks Rob!!
It sounds like you had a really lovely day out with Rob. We tend to visit Brighton first as it gives the day a nicer flow from London, with the driving length. The Seven Sisters are often a little quieter later on. I’m glad you enjoyed both stops. Thanks for joining us. Best, Maya
Our tour guide Tony was very competent and pleasant. We received a lot of interesting information. There was enough time left to look at Canterbury Cathedral and to stroll around a bit. The lunch stop in Deal was also perfect. Tony is a great driver.
I’m glad Tony made the day so easy and enjoyable, with plenty of interesting information along the way. It’s great to hear you had enough time in Canterbury and enjoyed the lunch stop in Deal too. Best, Maya
I have just completed the 5 days Best of Wales tour from London with Go Tours, and it was a wonderful experience for me from beginning to end.The itinerary was very good and very well planned. We visited different variety of places like castles, national parks, beautiful seaside towns, Big Pit National Coal Museum, St Davids Cathedral, Cardiff, St Fagans and many other beautiful places. What I particularly liked was the pace of the tour. We had enough time at each stop to enjoy the places rather than constantly feeling rushed. There was also plenty of time for meals, coffee and exploring the places on our own. Everything went according to the itinerary on the webpage including our return to London at around 6 pm on the final day. The minibus was clean and comfortable, we were all strangers when the tour began but everyone got along wonderfully. Our driver and guide David deserves a special mention. He was very kind, helpful and extremely professional. He was an excellent driver, he shared about Welsh history, geography, culture, language, etymology , literature and music a lot, and brought the places we visited to life with his knowledge and stories. He played some wonderful music for us and introduced us to Dylan Thomas's poetry. English is not my native language and I am not familiar with British accent but I had no problem in understanding when David was talking. He was also very attentive throughout the tour. He regularly checked if we were happy and that everything was fine with our hotels, the places we visited etc, he helped us orient at the stops, and gave us good recommendations for restaurants, cafés and shops. It was very clear that he really enjoys his work and takes pride in giving his guests a good experience. Several years ago, I attended Go Tours' Cotswolds day tour and David was our guide then as well. He mentioned the Wales tour during that trip, and I had wanted to do it since that time, as in my country tour companies organise tours to different parts of UK but unfortunately there are no tours to Wales. This year I finally had the opportunity to join the Best of Wales tour of Go Tours and happily David was our guide again. I enjoyed both the places we visited and the way the whole tour was organised. Everything was punctual, well coordinated and stress-free, while still leaving enough freedom and time to enjoy Wales at our own pace. The hotels were nice and clean, two of them being spa hotels at the seaside. The rooms were spacious, clean and were equipped with a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, ironing board and iron. Breakfast was included and had wide selection of food and beverage. Thank you to Go Tours for such a well-organised and enjoyable trip, and to David for making the five days interesting, comfortable and memorable. Ekin.
Hi Ekin, it’s lovely to hear you finally got to take the Wales tour you’d been thinking about since your first Cotswolds tour with us. Even better that David was your driver-guide again. I’m glad the pace, hotels and variety of stops all worked so well for you. I’ll make sure to pass on your kind comments to David. Thanks for joining us. Best, Maya
Overall trip was great. The tour guide Chris was fabulous. Friendly, informative, helpful and a fantastic , calm driver! Stops including Stonehenge, St. Ives, Bath were great, with Port Issac and Mikes tour the highlight. Reason for overall rating of 4 was the hotel in Exeter which was more like a motel than a hotel. We picked B&Bs and understand that there were none close to town but feel the hotel the rest of the group were in would have been a better choice.
I’m glad Chris looked after you so well and that Port Isaac and Mike’s tour were real highlights. It sounds like you packed a lot into the five days and came away with some great memories. Best, Maya
My husband and I just finished a 5-day tour of Cornwall with Go Tours in last September early October. A great time to visit. It's a little cooler, but there were a lot less tourists than we've seen early to mid September. I couldn't be more pleased they were meticulous about every detail. Our driver, Chris S was fabulous. He kept us entertained and shared his knowledge about the areas and gave us advice as to the best places to check out when we arrived at each of the villages. He was thoughtful and accommodating for each and every one of our needs. From the start of the tour we were just so pleased with our visit to Salisbury Cathedral, St Ives Beach, and Dartmoor National Park was beautiful. Plymouth was a great stop it was nice to see where our forefathers set sail. I can go on and on about every stop, they we'e all so delightful. Each and every village had its own quaint charm, especially Castle Combe and the village of Cheese, even though we only made a quick stop we were able to see the gorge goats which was a delight. Another favorite was the Minack theater, tickets were extra but they are well worth the price and I would recommend it. The visit to the last mine in Devon was incredible. Port Isaac was wonderful and the tour the Doc Martin show was well worth the extra price, even if you're not a Doc Martin fan, which my husband is not but he enjoyed it nonetheless. All in all, we were so thoroughly impressed with Go Tours organization and consideration of each and every one of their customers. The accommodations were wonderful. I would highly recommend this tour. I would definitely book with Go Tours again.
It sounds like you and your husband packed so many lovely memories into those five days. I’m glad Chris looked after everyone so thoughtfully, and that so many stops became highlights. We’d love to welcome you back on another Go Tours adventure. Best, Maya
I just finished my Best of Wales trip with David as our driver and I can not say enough great things about the guide and this trip. As a solo traveler I was deciding between this Trip Advisor highly rated tour and another well known operator of the same size. The advantages of Go Tours for this trip to Wales are: 1. You get to see more of Wales, Cardiff, Big Pit (Coal Mining heritage) and Brecon Beacons. Seeing Big Pit and this area is a must to understand the heart and history of wales. Add to that seeing the capitol city and the farmland of Brecon makes the week and scenery more varied and interesting. 2. I was worried about the hotels since you couldn’t choose but my rooms were great. Charming and with sea views! What I thought added to the trip was that all 9 of us (3 solo 3 couples of varying ages) stayed at the same place. This let people connect easily if they wanted to for dinner/breakfast and get to know each other better than being dropped off at different hotels like the other competitor. Each day was well thought out with just the right amount of stops, time and distance. I never felt rushed. So the tour overall is great. As far as David he is the perfect Ambassador to Wales. Being an actor and musician he loves both “Words” and “Music” the 2 very things that define this country. He gives you Wales history and much more with a great sound track and a lot of good (English) humor along the way. I think because he is a Performer he is used to giving his ALL knowing that this tour will end & then the next round of tourists will come and he’ll do it ALL again. Just like in a production. Thanks David! 5 stars!
It’s lovely to hear the Best of Wales worked so well for you as a solo traveller, especially having the whole group stay together and getting to know one another over the week. I’m also glad places like Big Pit, Cardiff and the Brecon Beacons gave you such a varied picture of Wales, and that David’s mix of history, music and humour brought it all together. Thanks for joining us. Best, Maya
Liam was our tour guide and he was amazing! He gave us a wonderful tour of 4 Cotswold villages, all day, and never tired. We would 100% do it again. Super lovely day..
It sounds like Liam kept the energy going all day and gave you a lovely introduction to the four villages. I’m so glad you enjoyed it enough to want to do it all again. Best, Maya
It was a wonderful day. Nigel our guide was very informative, relayed info about each stop & made helpful suggestions about shops, landmarks & food options. He also reviewed applicable history of England & the area. Besides being a great guide, Nigel is a skilled & safe driver.
I’m glad Nigel’s tips and history helped you make the most of each stop. It’s also great to hear you felt in such safe hands with him behind the wheel. Best, Maya
We had a fantastic day on the Clarkson’s Farm tour! Everything was very well organised, and our guide, Christian, was brilliant — funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and with great taste in music. He made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A fun, memorable day that I would highly recommend!
It sounds like Christian made an already fun day even better with his stories, humour and soundtrack. I’m glad everything ran smoothly and that the Clarkson’s Farm tour was such a memorable one. Best, Maya
We had a wonderful time in Cotswolds with our guide Christian. He is very knowledgeable and thorough with details. He shared history, fun facts and recommendations in terms of restaurants, pubs, etc. Christian is incredible, an excellent driver, kept us safe all the time and made our tour memorable. Highly recommended!
Christian will be pleased to hear how much you valued his knowledge, recommendations and safe driving. I’m glad he helped make your Cotswolds day such a memorable one. Best, Maya
Kevin was our tour guide and he was excellent. He was funny and full of tips and info. I loved the small group aspect. It felt appropriate for the small villages. I would definitely book with them again.
I’m glad the small-group style felt like such a good fit for exploring the villages. Kevin will be pleased to hear his humour and local tips added to the day. We’d love to welcome you back on another tour. Best, Maya
We had a great day and Chris S was an amazing Tour Guide. Very knowledgeable about everything Clarkson but also the surrounding area so gave alot of information about the Cotswolds etc. Enjoyed the small vans rather then a larger bus. Would recommend to book through them and would book another tour again if we are ever back in the UK.
I’m glad Chris made the day so enjoyable with plenty of Clarkson knowledge and a bit of Cotswolds history along the way. It’s lovely to hear you enjoyed the small-group setup too, and we’d be happy to welcome you back on another tour. Best, Maya
This is a well designed tour that shows you the highlights in Cornwall, and offers 2 great stops in the Cotswolds. Their clean, comfortable sprinter van is able to drop you off/pick you up in convenient locations at each stop. The guide provides the info you need to explore the stop and then turns you loose to choose how you'd like to spend your time. Our guide, Rob, also chose great stops for restroom/leg stretch breaks along the way, for example, stopping at Jamaica Inn, the setting for Daphne Du Maurier's novel by the same name. The guides have flexibility to work with the interests of the group. For example, I asked about sink holes left behind when the tin mines were abandoned. Because of that, Rob, stopped at Gwennap Pit, an amphitheater that was created from a sink hole. John Wesley preached from this location 18 times as he worked to convert the Cornish people. The sights on this tour are amazing. You see beautiful views of the dramatic Cornish coast and the moors. The stop at Minack Theatre was breathtakingly beautiful. In Port Isaac, the filming location for the TV series, Doc Martin, Rob arranged for those who were interested to take a tour led by a wonderful local guide. He had been one of the extras on the series. Each stop left me wanting to return. I chose the B&B option and was happy with the accommodations. In Exeter we were in a small hotel, with a lift, conveniently located near the cathedral and plenty of restaurants. In Falmouth we were in a guest house without a lift, but Rob kindly carried our suitcases up the stairs. The breakfasts in both B&B's offered hot food that was delicious. Overall, I was delighted with the experience and would gladly recommend it to anyone looking to tour Cornwall.
It sounds like you had such a lovely few days discovering Cornwall with Rob. I’m glad the extra stops, local stories and thoughtful little touches made the trip feel so personal. Thank you for such a detailed review. Best, Maya
Meeting point was easy to find and suitable especially if you had walked/run from your accomodation with suitcases like we did. Our guide Kevin was very informative and helpful and happily stored our overnight suitcases in the boot of the minivan. Very quaint villages plenty to see from historical buildings to boutique shopping. You need comfortable footwear so you can walk fairly quickly around the villages so you have time to see the local sights on the helpful app with map that they give you access to. Have some cash (coins) with you as public toilets all require payment in cash. If you dont have any cash you'll need to buy food or drink at a pub to access their toilets like we did. The weather wasnt that great for us with regular rain showers but it was still a very enjoyable day.
Kevin clearly made things easy from the moment you arrived, making sure your bags stayed secure and safe all day. I’m glad the app was useful for exploring the villages and that the British rain didn’t spoil your day. Best, Maya
Yes, it’s a long drive from London, but what a spectacular escape from the city day. Our driver/guide, James was knowledgeable, professional, & welcoming. He gave us great tips & a great app for the day.
I’m glad the Cotswolds felt like such a worthwhile escape from London. James will be pleased to hear his tips, knowledge and app helped you make the most of the day. Best, Maya
Our tour guide was Chris S. Super knowledgeable, kind and helpful. What a wonderful day trip. We had plenty of time for each village, learned a little bit of fun facts and history along the way.
It’s lovely to hear the pace felt just right and gave you plenty of time in each village. I’m glad Chris’s knowledge, kindness and little bits of history helped make the day such a good one. Best, Maya
Best way of visiting few Cotswold villages at once. Our driver was tour guide as well. Tony was absolutely brilliant and helpful. Highly recommend.
I’m glad Tony made exploring several Cotswold villages in one day feel so easy and enjoyable. Thanks for the recommendation. Best, Maya
The 5 day tour of this beautiful part of England delivered in all ways. The Cornish coast and towns were stunning and a particular highlight was the site of the Minack theatre, perched high on the Penzance cliffs. Dartmoor, mist and all, was just beautiful and I enjoyed the time to explore such picturesque places such as Polperro and St Ives and historic Bath. The BnB’s were comfortable and centrally located, which for a solo traveller, was very important. In a small coach, we were able to take some leafy covered back roads at times, which I loved. Our team leader, Rob was a great guide and driver. Thank you Go UK Tours, Highly recommend.
It sounds like you got to experience so many different sides of Cornwall, from the coast and fishing villages to misty Dartmoor. I’m glad Rob looked after you so well, and that the small group size and central B&Bs made the trip work nicely for you as a solo traveller. Best, Maya
The Lakes District and York. I took this 5 day tour the week after completing the Go UK Cornwall tour (see review). I travelled from Australia to spend three weeks in the Uk. I loved both tours. I can't fault them for places visited and all other arrangements. For me, it was the perfect balance of great places that were organised and my own free time to explore. The Lakes District is so scenic and continuallv changes from stark valleys to stonewall, treed fields. The lakes (or meres ) border the journey throughout, as you visit the places Beatrix Potter and also William Wordsworth lived. There was time to explore picturesque Windermere and also the historic city of York at our leisure and other towns on the journey. The BnB's were very comfortable and close enough to walk into town quite easily. As a solo traveller, this was important for me to be able to walk and explore. The journey also included time in Cambridge as well as Stratford on Avon. I Ioved my days in the Lakes District. Len was a great tour driver - very accommodating and informative. I especially loved travelling on many of the quieter, smaller backroads of this beautiful area. I can highly recommend this tour also. Thank you, Go UK Tours.
It’s lovely to hear you enjoyed both of your Go Tours trips so much. I’m glad Len helped make the Lake District and York such a memorable part of your time in the UK, and that the balance of organised stops and free time worked so well for you as a solo traveller. Thanks for joining us. Best, Maya
Great tour, great guide, great experience. Went with a friend, would not hesitate to book another tour. David was a great and entertaining driver/guide.
It sounds like you and your friend had a really lovely few days in Cornwall with David. We'd love to welcome you both back on another tour in the future. Best, Maya
