We had a fabulous day exploring Cotswolds villages with Kevin. He’s an excellent driver, shares history and knowledge of the local area, has a great personality and really looks after you. The Mercedes van is comfy and has good windows for enjoying the countryside. We went to Castlecomb, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water and Bibury. Each village has its own charm and personality. Castlecomb & Bibury are smaller and quieter, esp Castlecomb. Stow on the Wold (which we learned means hill/high ground) and Bourton on the Water are pleasantly busier with lots of shops, tea rooms, inns, etc. The churches are all beautiful and have interesting old cemeteries and history. If you’re considering going in March - lots of daffodils, some cherry trees blooming, some Tulip trees, forsythia - Spring is just beginning. It’s not crowded. It’s cool and at times drizzly. Wear a puffer and long pants for sure but it wasn’t uncomfortable. And the overcast kind of gave the area an old, charming, cozy feel. Someday, when we make our way back, we’ll tour with Kevin again. We didn’t return to Bath at the end of the tour as we had reservations to stay in the Cotswolds for a couple of nights. Kevin was helpful in advising us how to make that work to get to our next village on our own when we parted ways. Was a great day out for mother/ daughter. Would be great for friends or couples also.
What a lovely way to spend a mother/daughter day out. March in the Cotswolds with the daffodils just coming through and a bit of drizzle really does add to the charm doesn't it! Pleased Kevin looked after you so well and helped sort the onward journey to your accommodation. Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review. Best, James
My trip with Andy was great, such a funny guy! Met some nice peole & the villages were lovely.
To put it mildly, it is not worth spending 10 hours of your time. A couple of villages in the Cotswolds, the green fields are nice, but definitely not worth the 2 hour drive to and from it, not to mention the price you pay for it. Our driver/guide really tried and gave himself in the best way, but this is definitely not something to recommend!
Sad to hear the Cotswolds wasn't for you. Just to clarify, the tour visits four stops — Burford, Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold. I could personally spend days in each! Appreciate the honest feedback though. Best, James
My sister and I took the day trip to the Cotswolds on a Wednesday in March. The weather was a bit chilly but nice. Our guide Christian was terrific. He was informative and told us stories along the way with a bit of witty humor. He gave us information on the village once we arrived on where to shop, eat, and where the restrooms were. He was an excellent driver as well.
It was a great experience all around and I would definitely recommend this tour. Ask if you can be on Christian's bus! You wont be disappointed
March in the Cotswolds can be a bit chilly, but with the first signs of spring creeping through it's a stunning time to visit! Really glad Christian looked after you both so well. Thanks for the lovely review! James
Outstanding in every way. Clare, our driver/guide was 5 stars out of 5. She shared history and insights to the Cotswolds. This is a must do if you visit England.
Claire is great. Five stars is music to our ears -thanks for taking the time to share this!
Cheers, James
