Not every tour company suits every traveller — and we'd rather help you figure that out honestly than have you book something that isn't quite right. So here's a straightforward look at what we do, who we do it for, and whether it sounds like your kind of trip.
What Go Tours UK is actually about
We run small-group tours of Britain — the Cotswolds, Cornwall, Wales, the Lake District, Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands — from London, Bath and Edinburgh. The focus is on doing it properly: knowledgeable guides who bring places to life, routes that mix the iconic with the harder-to-reach, and itineraries that give you genuine time to explore rather than rushing you from one car park to the next.
We travel in 16-seater Mercedes Sprinter minibuses, which matters more than it sounds. It means smaller, friendlier groups. It means we can take the narrow country lanes that coaches can't. And it means the kind of flexible, personal experience that gets harder to deliver the bigger the group gets.
If you're the curious type — someone who wants to understand a place, not just see it — you'll feel at home with us.
You'll probably love it if…
- You want a guide who actually knows the place. Our driver-guides are the heart of what we do.
- You prefer a small group to a big coach. Maximum 16 passengers. If you've ever been on a large coach tour and felt like a number, this is the alternative.
- You like having the details taken care of. We handle the route, the timings and — on extended tours — the accommodation too.
- You want to see beyond the obvious. Our routes are planned to mix the famous landmarks with the places most visitors never reach.
- You want time to actually explore. At every stop, you'll have free time to wander at your own pace — find a café, explore a side street, sit by the river.
- You're visiting Britain from overseas. Most of our passengers are international visitors who want to make the most of their time and get out into the countryside without hiring a car or piecing together a complicated itinerary.
Who travels with us
Solo travellers, couples, groups of friends, and families — well behaved children aged seven and above are welcome on all of our tours. There's no typical Go Tours UK passenger, other than someone who's curious about Britain and wants to see it properly. The small group format works well for all of them, and our guides are good at making everyone feel part of the trip — whether you're travelling alone or in a group of eight.
A word on fitness and accessibility
Our tours are not strenuous, but you should be comfortable walking, as you'll be on your feet for stretches of the day. Comfortable shoes are a must — some paths and village streets can be uneven or muddy, and that's part of the charm of the places we visit.
For more active travellers, there's plenty of opportunity to walk further and explore more deeply at each stop — just ask your guide and they'll point you in the right direction.
If you'd prefer a more relaxed pace, that's absolutely fine too. There's no pressure to do everything or keep up with anyone. You explore at your own pace, and nobody is counting.
Please note that our tours are not currently suitable for wheelchair users, and children must be aged seven or above to join. If you have any other accessibility considerations — mobility, dietary, or anything else — please get in touch before booking. We'll give you an honest answer about what's possible on each route, and we'll always do our best to help.
It might not be for you if…
- You want total flexibility. Our tours run to a balanced schedule that's designed for you to get the most of each destination. There's generous free time at each stop, but the overall structure of the day is set. If you want to spend four hours in one village and skip the next entirely, hiring a car and going independently would suit you better.
- You want the lowest possible price. We're not the cheapest option and we're not trying to be. What we offer is a well-run tour with good guides, small groups, and accommodation we've actually chosen carefully — and that comes at a fair but not rock-bottom price.
- You want to cover as many places as possible in one day. Our itineraries are designed to give you real time at each stop. If you want to tick off ten destinations in eight hours, our pacing probably isn't the right fit.
- You want a completely private experience. Our scheduled tours are shared — that's part of what makes them work. If you'd prefer a tour built entirely around you, we do offer private tours, but our standard tours are a shared experience by design.
Still not sure?
Have a look at our reviews page. It gives a clearer picture of the experience than anything we could write about ourselves. And if you'd like to talk it through, get in touch — we're happy to help you figure out whether one of our tours is the right trip for you.
