Customers praised knowledgeable guides (Len, Rob, Steve, Glenn) who provided historical insights and navigated narrow roads skillfully. Most loved accommodations, group size, and itinerary. One reviewer noted limited guidance at stops and long travel times, suggesting more professional support needed.

Lake District and York Tour

We had a wonderful time on this 5-day tour. With a smaller bus we were able to drive on some of the country roads through many small villages. It was great to experience the history of the area and visit many historic sites along the way. Our driver also shared some of the history of the places we visited during the drive. However, the cost of the tour doesn't include the cost of admission to many of the historic sites that we visited. I would recommend this tour for couples who enjoy a smaller group size.

Hi Harry, those country roads through the villages are what make the smaller bus so worthwhile. Really pleased you enjoyed the five days and the history along the way. On the admission costs, we keep these separate so guests can choose which sites they'd like to visit rather than bundling everything into the tour price. It means you're not paying for attractions you might prefer to skip. We do try to be upfront about this before the tour though, so thanks for flagging it. James.

A great buy for a great adventure

Very reasonable fees for a most entrancing and wonderful tour of the Dells and Lake Country as well as visiting some great sights and the spectacular Minster in York. The transport van is comfortable the driver super-thoughtful and helpful and group size allows for a really great interaction. Given the size of the vehicle we were able to visit many places others could not, and it packs a whole lot of sights and experiences into a 5 day tour. A most memorable experience indeed.
Accommodations were very nice and included breakfast was a treat, this company goes above and beyond to make your trip comfortable and fun.

Thank you so much for this, what a wonderful review to read. We are really pleased the tour delivered on every front and that the small group format allowed you to get to places others simply cannot reach. York Minster is always a moment and it is great to hear the Lakes left such a strong impression too. We hope to welcome you back on another tour soon. Cheers, James

This tour definitely lived up to our expectations!

I have only positive things to say about our tour! Len, our driver, was so skilled at navigating the narrow roads, and he provided us with a great deal of useful, interesting information about the areas, the history, etc. He was so cheerful and helpful, which made the trip very pleasant for all of us. Our hotel accommodations were outstanding, and our daily stops were wonderful. I think it would be nice if your company added Grassington to this tour, though, since that is where All Creatures Great and Small is filmed; that would be more topical and interesting than seeing where the much older show was filmed. We especially enjoyed the little stops on the way to walk a little, get a piece of fresh gingerbread, find the toilets, appreciate the beautiful scenery, etc. Such a wonderful trip that definitely lived up to our expectations!

Dear Judy,
Thanks for the lovely review. Grassington is a great shout, the All Creatures Great and Small connection is a popular one and it's something we'll certainly have a think about.
Best, James

York and the Lake District with the Sheep and Sunshine

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to York and the Lake District. We visited Lincoln and Cambridge on the way to the Lake District and Hardwick Hall and Stratford-on-Avon on the return. Our driver/guide, Len, was knowledgeable about the area and kept us entertained with stories of the history of England

Lovely Lake District Landscapes

What a fantastic tour of the Lake District, with a fantastic guide. From London to York to Lake Windermere and beyond, our guide Len kept us entertained with history, geography and linguistic lessons and perhaps a tall tale or two, all the while ferrying us safely through the narrow lanes of the English countryside. The stops gave us enough time for a good look around and there was no sense of being herded like the thousands of sheep we saw. I was impressed with the quality of our hotels, above what I expected for such a tour. Our travelling companions from all over the world added to the enjoyment of the trip. Many thanks to Len and to John for making a last minute change to our itinerary. I would book again with Go Tours, they provide exceptional customer service.Cheers!Renée and John

Dear Renée and John,
Len navigating those narrow lanes while dishing out history, geography and telling the odd tale is exactly the kind of guide our team is proud to have. Sounds like he delivered in style. Glad the hotels impressed and that John could sort the last minute change for you, that's teamwork we're proud of. We look forward to having you back.
Thanks, Maya

Fabulous Lake District Tour

A wonderful tour of the Lake District. Our driver, Len, was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable about English history. A magnificent experience.

Dear Rose-Marie,
Lovely to hear Len's mix of history and humour won you over, that combination doesn't always come easy but he's got it down. Many thanks for including our tour in your trip to the UK.
Thanks, Maya

Enchanting England! Traveling 5 days London to Lake District with Len was an absolute delight, ex...

Traveling on the 5 day London to Lake District was an absolute delight, exploring English towns & countryside under the expert supervision of Len, whose charm was appreciated by all. From Cambridge to Lincoln to York to Windermere and Stratford upon Avon, we were enchanted by the various locales & local culture. Hotels we stayed at along the way were impressive, the group became quite close, and Len proved to be the perfect combination of consummate professional & genuine friend. This was our first multi-day bus tour and we are already planning to visit Cornwall next summer with Go Tours, hoping we can be fortunate enough to have Len orchestrate the journey.

Dear John and Sue,
What a route, Cambridge, Lincoln, York, Windermere and Stratford in five days, glad Len made it feel effortless throughout. Lovely to hear the group grew close along the way too, that tends to happen when everyone's won over by the same guide. Sounds like Cornwall next summer is already sorted then, hope Len's free for it.
Thanks, Maya

Lot of Riding

Great driver but short on guiding. Left us on our own with the minimum of information. No maps, no advice about lunch and put us out in Lincoln in a driving rain storm.

Lots to see but only 90 minutes on average per stop to see it. Minimum 6 hours a day riding.

All the sites were wonderful. Especially York and the Lake District.

Our B and B in Windermere only served cold breakfast I don’t think you should use them again. The owners wife is not well.

Len came to our rescue and got us breakfast in the other B & B. We really like him but the tour needs to provide more professional support

Thanks for the detailed feedback. We usually do provide maps and information for each stop, so I'll look into why you didn't have these on your tour.
Our tours are designed around self-exploration, giving you the freedom to see places at your own pace. But we appreciate it's not for everyone. Really glad Len stepped in and sorted the breakfast situation for you. We appreciate you taking the time to share all of this. It helps us improve.

Northern England is ful lof history and beauty

My husband and I enjoyed our tour. Guide and Driver, Rob, was friendly and gave us lots of tips and stopped at his secret spots. Accommodations were nice and comfortable. The Lake District is worth the trip, and we liked leaving the driving to Rob.

Dear Jeni,
Rob's secret spots are always a highlight — and the Lake District really is something else. Glad you could sit back and let him do the driving.
Cheers, James

Great small group tour!

Our second multi day tour with Go Tours, and again just a perfect way to travel. Our guide Len couldn’t have been any more informative, competent, and FUN! Many interesting and memorable stops , and great accommodations. We chose the hotel stays , our other travelers chose the B+ B+B’s.
You won’t be disappointed!

Dear Warren,
Back for a second multi-day tour — that's what we like to hear! Len is brilliant and it sounds like he delivered again. Hope to see you on the third one!

Great holiday

Great, relaxed, well organised tour. Accommodation was good and catered well for dietary requirements. Our driver, Rob, was fantastic. Very friendly and informative. I would highly recommend this tour.

Dear Ellen,
Really pleased it all came together so smoothly — Rob's a great host and it's good to hear the dietary side was well handled too. Hope to see you again.

Small groups, great trips. Excellent & knowledgeable driver guide. Will go with them again !

Excellent five day tour of north England in a small group (15 max) with great driver/guide. (Our second outing with this company). Good balance of visits to sites and driving. And smaller vehicle than a tour bus permitted us to go along on smaller, quainter roads. A definite plus. Would highly recommend them!
Driver Len kept us well informed while exploring the countryside. His affable & kind personality made the trip extra special.

The smaller roads really do make all the difference, and Len is exactly the right person to take you down them. Glad it delivered again!
Cheers, James

It was pleasant and memorable.

Our 5-day tour to York and the Lake District lived up to our expectations. The bus was comfortable for the 12 of us on the tour. Len, our guide and driver went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and special requests. We opted to stay over night in BNB’s and both were very good and located in convenient locations close to restaurants and various sights. Go Tours promotes the fact that their mini-buses go on routes that the bigger coach buses can not manage. This was certainly true on this tour as we meandered through the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. We look forward to joining another Go Tour next time we are in England.

Small group tour of the Lakes District

The tour was fantastic as was our guide, Rob. The towns and scenery were beautiful. Recommend this trip for anyone. It was easy going and relaxing.

Lake District - as spectacular as hoped

Just back from a fantastic trip - York and the Lake District - only 10 passengers so lots of room on the mini-bus. Several nationalities and ages and the group melded well. We did have the obligatory person who was usually late back and was generally annoying and entitled but the rest of us were very tolerant and didn't let it spoil the trip. Our driver guide, Len, was excellent, both as a driver and a guide. He was helpful, caring and informative without an overload of information. The itinerary and hotel accommodation were excellent and the Kensington meeting/drop-off point a good choice. I would recommend this tour to anyone and am already looking to see what other tours I could do in future.

5 Day Lake District Tour with Go-Tour

The 5 day tour with Go-Tour was wonderful. We saw so much! Our driver/guide, Len, was such a gentleman and an excellent driver. He also gave us a lot of interesting historical information that improved the context for the places we visited. Negotiating those 2-way narrow one-lane roads in that 16 passenger van was amazing! Highly recommended, company and driver/guide both.

See the English Lakes region countryside

Our tour was fabulous! Our driver, Steve, was so knowledgable, friendly, and professional. He gave us historical information along with funny little stories. The lakes region was absolutely beautiful...so green. I enjoyed all of our historic hotels as they helped me envision what life would be like then, but were also very comfortable. I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see the gorgeous English countryside!

Beautiful places

Amazing trip! Organised with utter professionalism. All places were so lovely. We were with the B&B option and it was very, very good. Very clean accommodations with delicious food and extremely friendly hosts. Our driver/guide was lovely man called Steve, he did his best to accommodate everything. The first and last days are quite tiring because of the long distances we have to cover. But the Steve made sure we had fair share stops. I would definitely recommend this trop 200%. Need more people to book. Stunning places to visit up there in north!

Wonderful Trip! (Steve)

We had a great time touring all the way from Cambridge to York and the Lake District. The small-group setting and accommodations were great. The journey through the countryside was beautiful with a nice weather as well. Steve was knowledgeable about the places we went to and even recited a poem for us, as we travelled through the Lake District. A wonderful experience overall and I would highly recommend it!

Highest Quality Experience

My husband and I took the York and Lake District tour last month. Not only did it exceed expectations but it was terrific value. The convenient London hotel departure point has a lobby cafe and facilities available prior to departure. The small 16 seat bus was modern and comfortable and Steve, our driver & guide, was always smiling, polite and courteous. Throughout, he was relaxed and provided engaging insights, commentary, fun stories and recommendations based on our personal and group interests. We chose the B&B option and, in both York and Windermere, the lodgings were of high standard with terrific breakfasts – just expect lots of stairs in English city B&Bs! Overall it was a wonderful, fun adventure with marvelous scenery and fun co-travelers, but with the security of a professional driver/guide who provided choices. Independence retained; fulfillment enhanced. Thank you GO-tours.

Great Trip, Great Guide (Steve)

Our group of six not only had a great time, we also had great weather! There were a total of 12 of us our our tour, and our traveling companions (Aussies) couldn't have been nicer than if we had selected them ourselves. Steve was quite accommodating, which permitted me to arrange to meet friends in Cambridge during our first stop. Time permitting, Steve was also able to make stops when we wished to take pics along the way. In addition as we made our way through the countryside Steve would provide some historical background on the places we'd visit or see along the way. I would highly recommend this trip to most anyone - as long as they are fairly mobile as there can be quite a bit of walking during your self guided portions of the trip.

A great time was had by all.
